Meal Ideas for your Thanksgiving Spread

The main entree is of course the turkey. Can't do without a bird on the table on thanksgiving. If you don't have the time to prep for this, there is an alternative at the end of this. Halved-potatoes in skin, stuffed with mashed potatoes and bacon. Pansit noodles with shrimps. Baby carrots, asparagus, and brussel sprouts. For dessert, sweet buko pie. I mentioned in the beginning that you can substitute an over-roasted turkey with roast beef for your centre-piece and it will be just as good. This slab of meat will take only 1 hour to cook and for accessories, we include chopped carrots and baby potatoes.

Authentic Kaldereta and Sinampalukan from the Philippines with Love

Kaldereta from a young goat with pineapple, potato, carrots. Specialty cuisine cooked by my brother visiting from the Philippines from two weeks ago for our mother's 81st birthday. You know this is as authentic as you can have it. I don't have a photo of the Sinampalokan soup dish but is also made from the same young goat. Very very tasty!

Ginataang Langka (Jackfruit Cooked in Coconut Milk)

This is one of my all time favorites (I seem to have a lot of favorites) just because it reminds me of my childhood back in the ghettos. It's mixed with string beans, green chilly, and young jack fruit slices, all submerged in coconut milk. Perfect dinner entrée for any occasion.
